Focus Mode Timer
Deep work sessions with automatic breaks
What is the Focus Mode Timer?
The Focus Mode Timer is a deep work tool designed to help you achieve sustained concentration through structured work and break cycles. Unlike a simple countdown, it guides you through a full set of focus sessions — each followed by a short recovery break — so you finish the day feeling accomplished rather than drained.
Set your preferred focus duration (default 25 minutes), break length, and number of sessions, then press Start. The circular progress ring gives you a clear visual sense of how far through each phase you are, and the session dots show your overall progress toward your daily goal.
How to Use
- Click Settings to customize your focus duration, break duration, and number of sessions.
- Press Start Focus to begin your first deep work session.
- Work without distractions until the alarm sounds at the end of the session.
- The timer automatically switches to break mode — step away from your screen.
- After the break, focus resumes automatically until all sessions are complete.
- Watch the session dots fill in as you complete each round.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a Pomodoro timer?
Both use work/break cycles, but the Focus Mode Timer lets you freely configure duration and number of sessions without the fixed 25/5 Pomodoro structure. It also transitions automatically through all sessions without manual intervention.
Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The timer saves its target end time to localStorage. If you return to the page, it calculates the correct remaining time and resumes seamlessly.
Can I change the session count mid-run?
Opening Settings applies the new values and resets the timer. If you need to change settings without resetting, finish the current session first.
What focus duration works best?
Research suggests 25–50 minutes for most tasks. Longer sessions (60–90 min) suit creative or analytical work; shorter ones (15–20 min) help when willpower is low. Experiment to find your sweet spot.
How do I use fullscreen mode?
Click the fullscreen icon to expand the timer to fill your screen — great for staying aware of remaining time at a glance. Use the +/− buttons in the corner to adjust the clock size, and press Esc to exit.
